In the Middle East, Word Collective walks alongside churches in regions where trauma runs deep due to war, economic collapse, and forced displacement. In some places, we equip church leaders to create safe spaces where trauma-informed healing and faith intersect. In other places, we train those working directly with refugees so they, in turn, can provide refugees trauma training that fosters resilience and breaks cycles of despair.

In Latin America, Word Collective supports communities experiencing both natural disasters and spiritual need. In one country, we responded to catastrophic flooding by training pastors and community leaders to reach flood-impacted families with both emotional support and the Gospel. In another, we’re equipping church leaders with Bible storytelling and trauma-healing skills while engaging their children and youth. Through strategic workshops across the area, we support locally led efforts that can continue encouraging and healing communities.

In Africa, Word Collective builds relationships with communities and supports them as they meet their own needs through community development and trauma-healing programs. In Ethiopia, we support the non-profit Addis Tesfa, which provides women and children the resources they need to escape extreme poverty. Throughout East and North Africa, we run trauma-informed trainings that begin and support healing groups seeking to holistically address trauma. We also build long-term relationships with leaders and churches in the area to provide support as they evangelize and disciple their communities. In Kenya, we partner with a Kenyan organization that runs community development and Bible translation programs.

In Ukraine, we support communities facing extreme trauma through trainings aimed at equipping people with basic coping skills. We have also worked alongside a Ukrainian Bible school to develop and provide a trauma-healing courses to their students, and have worked with others to help them engage in immediate trauma-care.

Wherever we are in the world, we seek to listen to the communities we work with and support them however they decide to build and strengthen their own communities.
